I am always on the look out for interesting implementations of niche specific learning management systems.
There are ones centered around language learning.
Others designed to help you improve at chess.
And even some designed to help you live a better life by helping to eliminate stress and find a little inner peace.
One of the most successful self-help learning programs I have come across is Headspace.
Before you ask, I will clarify that they are not using LearnDash. The entire LMS is a custom build and from the looks of it probably cost hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to develop and maintain.
Upon creating a free account you receive a nice welcome message from the LMS creator (and your guide through all of the modules) Andy Puddicombe.
Andy is a former Buddhist monk turned entrepreneur. The goal of his program is to get you to meditate for 10 minutes a day, and well, live a better life. That’s it.
In fact, you can take the first 10 days for free where you learn how to relax your mind for a few minutes each day. I have to say, it was pretty good!
It also is the first time I have seen an LMS where the content is almost purely audio based. Okay, there are some simple explainer animation videos, but the “meat” of the program is audio.
Headspace works on a subscription model. It’s priced around the same as Netflix, but they offer a “forever” plan as well in case you are completely sold and want to give them a lot of money upfront.
If you haven’t already, go check out Headspace. Heck, even give the first lesson a try. At the very least you will feel a little more rested.
