If you are selling your LearnDash courses then you will soon discover that it is easier to sell to your current customers than it is to find new ones. If you are not actively cross-selling your courses then you are missing out on an income opportunity.

Before getting into some of the popular ways to cross-sell online courses, let me first get something out of the way regarding the notion that “selling is bad”.

If you are building a business then you cannot think this way. Well, you can but you won’t be in business very long.

Don’t be afraid of cross-selling courses to your customers. They are clearly interested in what it is you have to offer and by cross-selling you are making them aware of what else you have created in a tasteful, unobtrusive way.

With that said, let’s discuss some the ways you can do this using LearnDash.

“Customers also Purchased” method

You have probably purchased something on Amazon and were presented with a message that displayed similar products that others purchased. This up/cross sell method is simple and effective. Show your customers similar product while they are checking out.

The easiest way to do this in LearnDash is by selling your courses with a shopping cart like WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads.

The WordPress based shopping carts are robust pieces of software with features specifically to help you maximize order revenue. Take advantage of these features!

Putting the Course List on the Profile

There isn’t a rule that your available courses have to all exist on one page, though strangely this is often what people do. Another great location to include a list of your courses is on the LearnDash profile page.

Just use the Course List shortcode an you’re all set.

If you want to get fancy with it, you can also use the Student shortcode to display specific courses to students of a particular course. This way you can show one category of courses to those enrolled in course “A”, and another group of courses to those enrolled in course “B”.

Course Completed Message

Using the Course Complete shortcode in LearnDash you can present a specific message to your users the moment they finish a course. Offer them a small incentive, such as a discount code, because they successfully completed a course.

The message is delivered immediately after the course is complete and will stay on the course page for your user going forward.
