Since 2013, course creators have relied on LearnDash to create dynamic online courses and grow their businesses. We’re now the premier learning management system for WordPress, but we’ve also heard from many customers who would like to use LearnDash but don’t already have a site on WordPress. For many creators and small business owners, the prospect of securing hosting, purchasing a domain, and installing WordPress can be daunting.

That’s why we’re excited to announce LearnDash Cloud, a new addition to our suite of online learning tools that removes barriers to creating a course website using WordPress.

What is LearnDash Cloud?

LearnDash Cloud is a fully hosted WordPress website that comes with LearnDash pre-installed. An annual subscription includes hosting and website automatic updates alongside the full functionality of LearnDash. Course creators can publish a website in minutes using professionally-designed starter templates that are easy to customize.

LearnDash Cloud encompasses all the powerful features that LearnDash subscribers know and love, including advanced quizzing, drip content, embedded video, VIP support, and marketing and sales tools. LearnDash Cloud also comes with ProPanel (a $49 value) for enhanced reporting to monitor enrollment and student progress.

Bringing WordPress to the people

With LearnDash Cloud, we make it easy for course creators to build an entire business on WordPress—starting with their online courses and including their entire website. We remove the barriers to secure hosting, installing, and maintaining WordPress.

With LearnDash Cloud, we’re proud to open up the WordPress ecosystem to creators who may have previously opted for different website builders. LearnDash Cloud also offers an alternative to course creators like Kajabi, Podia, or Teachable. Ultimately, LearnDash Cloud paves a streamlined path to WordPress site ownership and puts the WordPress ecosystem and plugin repository within reach for more people than ever.

We believe in making WordPress inclusive for all types of creators, regardless of their technical prowess. As we debut this user-friendly hosted WordPress product for LearnDash, our parent company—StellarWP—looks forward to bringing similar hosted solutions to other brands in the StellarWP family.

Should I use LearnDash Cloud or the LearnDash plugin?

Both options give you full access to the LearnDash features you need to create and manage engaging online courses. When deciding which option is right for your needs, we recommend evaluating your goals and your technical experience.

In general, the LearnDash plugin is a good solution if you already have your own WordPress site and/or you feel comfortable setting up your own hosting, domain name, and WordPress installation.

You may prefer to use LearnDash Cloud if you’re starting a new website for your course(s) and/or you prefer to manage hosting, domain, website updates, and LearnDash in a user-friendly environment with just one annual fee.

In our video, we break down the differences between the LearnDash plugin and LearnDash Cloud:

Continued support for current LearnDash subscribers

While we’re excited to serve a new segment of the e-learning market, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the core LearnDash plugin that is currently used by more than 43,000-course creators around the globe.

As your needs evolve, the core LearnDash plugin continues to be the most powerful learning management system on WordPress, alongside LearnDash Cloud.
