Making Mobile Learning Work [INFOGRAPHIC]

It is exciting to see the growth of mobile learning, and its importance, over recent years.  The new and accessible mobile technology is one reason why we see mlearning on a large scale. In fact, mobile phones count for a surprising 1 out of 8 internet page views in the United States alone.  This number is only set to grow in the next year or so. I would venture to guess that this increases to one third in the next three years.

The infographic below, created by Interactive Services, contains some very interesting facts about mobile learning in our world today. As you would have guessed, the use of mobile learning will only increase in the years to come, and by quite a big margin.  As the mobile market increases, so does the innovation, accessibility, and overall use. It has been reported that 70% of business will implement mlearning in the next two years.  This doesn’t seem all that impossible when you consider that 94% of Fortune 500 companies have tested or deployed the iPad in their organization last year.

One thing that must happen is that mobile technology must play nice with the programs used to create elearning modules – the same ones launched by learning management systems in educational settings and in business (i.e. Flash and HTML5). In the same way, the rapid elearning development programs need to understand their compatibility with mobile devises.  For example, there really is no excuse for any elearning program not lack compatibility with mlearning technology, especially given the emergence of TinCan API.
