Useful Apps for Online Students

thumbs-upA good portion of learners today are taking course content primarily online. In fact, in the United States, there are some states that mandate grade school students take some portion of their studies in an virtual environment.

In other words, elearning is more than here to stay – it is practically required!

Taking an online course is different than a classroom setting. Learners are often left to their own devices when it comes to learning retention. For courses that require successful passing of a final exam, it becomes even more critical that students find ways to solidify the course content.

Fortunately there are some applications that can help the online learner get the most out of the elearning that they take. The apps listed below are just a small sample of what is out there. Apps For ELearning Students

Evernote – With over 100 million users, EverNote is the most popular app used in the online education space. A fantastic way to take notes, generate lists, collaborate with others, present information, and simply manage all of your digital assets. Start with the free plan and upgrade for more features if needed.

BenchPrep – Need help with studying? The Benchprep app gives you access to a huge library of flashcards, practice exams, and exercises related to standardized tests (i.e. SAT, GRE, ACT, PMP, and more).

DragonDictation – Not a fan of writing (typing) your notes or assignments? Then use DragonDictation for a reliable voice detection and recording software. When you speak, DragonDictation will type your words into a document so that you can save them for later. Note that you may have to return to correct some of the mistakes, but it will save you time nonetheless if you aren’t very quick on a keyboard.

EasyBib – Most formal writing assignments require some form of citation. Whether you must adhere to MLA, APA, or Chicago Style, this app can help ensure that you have all of your citations properly formatted – an extremely important thing to do if you want to avoid accusations of plagiarism.

iStudiez – If you’re taking a lot of online classes, this app will help keep them organized by tracking meeting times, assignments, exams, and more.

Happy Hour Deals – Sometimes you need a break from the online courses. This useful app will help you find the best happy hour deals in your area 🙂 .
