Easy Group Enrollment & Course Filters!

LearnDash UpdatesToday we are pleased to release two new back-end features, both of which the direct result of conversations we have had in the support forums.

Before jumping into the details, we want to first thank you for all of your continued involvement in LearnDash’s feature development. Your comments and suggestions have been very much appreciated.

Without further ado, let’s get onto the updates…

Focusing on the Admin Experience

The last update focused primarily on front-end visuals, whereas this update is to help make life a little easier from a user and course management standpoint.

While we know you want your users to enjoy their experience with your LearnDash powered courses, we also understand that you want ease-of-use from an administration perspective as well.

Group (Mass) Course Enrollment

The LearnDash grouping feature makes it possible to organize users into specific groups based on class or department. With this new update, you can now enroll an entire group of users into one or more courses with the click of a button!

Besides saving time with the manual enrollment process, one additional benefit of this update is that you can now drip content to your users at the exact same time. Simply create a group, select the course(s) they should be enrolled in, and click “SAVE”.

If you have drip (scheduled) content for your courses, all the users will now be delivered the content on the same schedule.

To use this new feature, just go to USERS > LEARNDASH GROUPS from your dashboard.

Course Organization Filters

We know that many of you are using LearnDash to deliver a large number of courses. Naturally, as you start to build out lessons, topics, and quizzes, it can all become quite a bit to manage. That’s why with this latest update we have introduced new back-end filters!

The mappings include:

  • Lesson to Course mapping
  • Topic to Lesson mapping
  • Topic to Course Mapping
  • Quiz to Course Mapping

Need to see find a Topic for a specific Lesson? No problem, just use one of the filters!

Restructuring of Folders

In addition to the two items above, we restructured many of the LearnDash folders and removed some hardcoded elements to allow for easier templating. With this in place, creating themes around LearnDash just became a little bit easier.

Again, we want to thank you for your continued faith in our product and service. To return the favor, you can expect continual updates to our WordPress LMS! 🙂

Until next time!

  1. So glad to hear about the mass enrollment. I spend all of Dec manually enrolling students into groups. This will make it so much easier in the future!

  2. Hi Justin,

great updates! is there progress in terms of incorporating the quiz scores from Articulate courses in the Leaderboard vs. having to create a seperate quiz?

    Thank you.

  3. Thanks. I want to look at that Course Organization Filters as without that function I was mired and becoming essentially unproductive.

    1. Justin,
I have applied the update. When I attempt to use the filters it does not return results as expected.
      Any sage advice?

  4. Great update Justin. Trying to manage more than a dozen courses was proving to be tough. The filters are exactly what I needed. Your plugin just keeps getting better. Keep up the great work Jusin. Thanks!

  5. Really enjoying using LearnDash. It’s such an easy tool to use in our WordPress community site.
Keep the changes coming and look forward to the next batch of new features 🙂

  6. Thanks Justin,

For making our working life easier again!

What does this mapping mean? Can’t translate it to Dutch to understand.
    Lesson to Course mapping
    Topic to Lesson mapping
    Topic to Course Mapping
    Quiz to Course Mapping

    1. Hi Wilco-
Thanks for the note. It essentially means that when you are looking at your Lesson list, you will see which course it belongs to; when you look at your topic list, you will see the lesson it belongs to; etc.

  7. The rate at which you are improving this plugin is simply amazing! Just Yesterday I was frustrated that I could not filter my lesson topics.. and look! Good stuff!

If you could support integration with Buddypress/BBpress it would be really amazing – It would be awesome if students could be automatically given access to a specif BBpress section/topic based on the course they have entered.

    Good work!

  8. Thanks for the updates Justin. Keep making it easier for admins to get the job done. More automation, less manually interventions. 🙂

  9. Do you have an outline/schematic of the information architecture of LearnDash? Especially with the new course filters seems there are interesting ways to link content to courses, trying to see if it fits my needs.

  10. Hi Justin
We have made changes to the language files, when we upgrade, will we need to make all the translations again? Or are the language files not affected?

    1. Hi Calum-
Make sure to save your translations to another folder and after updating just drag & drop them via ftp and it will revert to your translated files.

  11. Thanks a lot once again Justin for making it easier for us (not 2 techy teachers 🙂 developing these kind of really handy features. At this moment topics can only be assigned to ONE course (and one lesson) Any plans for expanding this to more courses and lesson?

  12. Great! Thanks for course organization filter!
Hope there will be similar thing for quizzes as when you got lots of quizzes that is difficult to assign them to needed lesson topic) Anyway, great update, I really happy with such frequency of updates)

  13. “It would be awesome if students could be automatically given access to a specif BBpress section/topic based on the course they have entered.”

that would be a very powerful feature!

  14. “At this moment topics can only be assigned to ONE course (and one lesson) Any plans for expanding this to more courses and lesson?”

this would be an amazing feature as well. No need to duplicate lessons anymore then..

btw I love that learndash integrates with exchange!

  15. I got the following message “An error occurred while updating LearnDash LMS: The package could not be installed. The package contains no files.” Any ideas? Thank you

    1. Hi Dani-
Check to ensure your credentials are correct via the ACCOUNT tab on the support site. If you still have issues, feel free to open a support ticket.

  16. I have about 15000 user, but this mass enrollment just keep about 10% from all of my user? What should i do? Forced it into database or something?

  17. Hey Justin

I’d like to automatically enroll in a certain course, every new user whose email address ends with a particular domain (@la-inyan.com). Is this possible right now?

  18. Is there a way to add an individual user to a course? I only see an option to add a group, but what if instead of adding a group of people to a course I’d rather add a single person to a group of courses…how can that be done?

  19. Hi Justin – a quick question about group enrollment…
If I have a course that is set to expire access after 90 days and a user is giving access to that course (via group enrollment), will course access expire like normal for that user even though they are assigned that group?
