E-Learning Automation using LearnDash and Zapier
Automate certain tasks to facilitate engagement with your online learners.
Not too long ago I wrote about a new tool that makes it possible for you to create elaborate automation sequences based on actions taken within your course or on your WordPress LMS. The tool is called Uncanny Automator and it’s essentially the “Zapier for WordPress”.
Which begs the question: is it possible to just use Zapier for e-learning purposes? The answer is a resounding “yes”!
The video above demonstrates two very simple Zaps you could create on your site, both related to email as that’s a popular method of engagement. However, you are not just limited to email. There are plenty of creative ways you can use Zapier to connect to other applications.
Using Zapier and LearnDash together
To connect LearnDash related activities to Zapier all you need to use is our free Zapier add-on. Once installed you have literally hundreds of apps available to connect to for your online courses. This is perfect if you are already using some tools in your business and want to integrate your LearnDash powered LMS into them.
You could literally spend hours going through Zapier’s apps and thinking of neat automation opportunities to enhance your online courses. But you aren’t limited to using Zapier strictly for learning automation. It also is a great option for automating components of your marketing (if you’re looking for ideas, here are 11 marketing related zaps you could configure).
I suppose it’s worth noting why you would want to use Zapier in the first place. The most obvious reason is that it allows you, a non-developer, the opportunity to easily connect applications together via APIs and webhooks. It literally is a “color by numbers” system. Just follow the instructions and in 10 minutes you can have your own custom Zaps up-and-running.
Is there a price?
The good news is that you can get started without paying anything!
First, our Zapier integration is free for LearnDash customers. Simply upload & activate.
Zapier has a tiered pricing, starting with a free plan. Of course there are some limitations on the free plan, probably most obvious being that some apps are not included and require a paid plan in order to use. This may force you to a paid plan depending on the application you want want to connect to. The paid plans start at $20/month at the time of this article.
So if you’re looking for a quick way to get LearnDash “talking” to the other tools you use, then Zapier is definitely worth your time.
If you need something more elaborate, then definitely check out the Uncanny Automator WordPress plugin.
