If you are creating an elearning course, there is a good chance that you are using Articulate Storyline to do so. A major industry player for the past 10 years, Articulate is always at the forefront of innovation for rapid elearning development.

As with any software program though, there is a bit of a learning curve, including discovering the quickest way to complete certain functions.

Still, even if you have been using this program for quite some time, it is never too late to learn something new that could potentially make you more productive, or open up new possibilities for course creation.

The idea of keyboard shortcuts may not seem like a big deal, but if you are contracted by a client to complete a course in a tight timeline, then any possible way you can reduce development time is welcomed.

Below is a printable job aid, created by the folks at Articulate, that details keyboard shortcuts for some of the most commonly used functionality in their Articulate Storyline product.

Some of which are painfully obvious (Ctrl + C for copy), but others you may find useful as you build your courses. For instance, the shortcuts for inserting basic elements like text boxes and pictures goes is certainly great to know.

Using shortcuts takes practice. If you haven’t used them in the past, then it can seem more efficient to use the typical menu items instead. I would recommend picking three or four of these to start with and incorporating them into your routine. After some time, it will become second nature – and chances are you’ll find that you are able to do more in less time.
