Why I am Grateful for ELearning

gratefulThere are many things to be grateful for in life, most obvious being the people that are closest to us – our family and friends. This will remain true for this Thanksgiving holiday, but I’ll venture to throw one more item into the mix: elearning.

At a personal level I am grateful for elearning, and what I am most grateful for is the elearning industry as a whole. This is an extremely exciting field to be a part of (and if you’re not currently involved, there are some clear benefits to joining).

Much of the new technology that emerges today is often in relation to how we learn, and helping us to do it better – which in a way falls under the elearning industry umbrella. We use elearning to assist children in understanding the world, as well as to train adults to become better at their life’s calling. ELearning in the form of MOOCs has knocked down barriers for those who may not have the financial means to pursue traditional learning opportunities.

Some of the world’s most influential companies are investing heavily into elearning. For example, Google is constantly refining their offerings so that they are useful for both teachers and students. Programs like Codecademy are helping people gain new, very relevant skills. ELearning is helping countless people all over the world at a scale we have never seen before.

The one thing that is apparent about the elearning industry is that the more you contribute, the more you will learn – and it is for this that I am grateful. This characteristic about the elearning industry is why many find it to be extremely motivating, inspiring, and in many ways unique.

Have a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday!
