12 Must-Know Learning Industry Sites

checkitoutpicIf you have an interest in elearning or instructional design, undoubtedly you have your list of favorite sites that you visit for coming up to speed with new trends and happenings.

If you are just getting into the industry, then you should generate a shortlist of sites to frequent on a regular basis as it will help you to truly become emersed into the elearning and instructional design culture.

Now, there are thousands of sites out there related to this industry – hundreds of which would be worthy of making this small list (if you have more to share, I encourage you to leave a comment on this post).

Below are some sites that are well known in this field. Perhaps you know of them already, but chances are there is one or two that will be something new, and maybe you will learn something!

The List!

Elearning Learning – This site is designed to pull in the best content on the web related to the elearning industry. So, while they don’t generate their own organic content, they give you the ability to find other great resources.

Training Magazine – One of, if not the, oldest publications related to the training industry. Great content is added daily to their site covering a variety of topics.

Training Magazine Network – A huge social site where you can join groups and forums to discuss a variety of topics related to training. They even host free seminars by some of the leading professionals in the field.

Elearning! Magazine – A smaller publication dedicated to the world of elearning. Every year they publish a survey related to industry trends, and they issue yearly awards in a variety of elearning areas (i.e. learning management systems, rapid elearning development tools, etc.).

Elearning Industry – A popular blog with many contributors who write about all topics as they relate to elearning.

Viva Elearning – A “YouTube” for instructional design professionals, brought to you by the same folks as ElearningIndustry.

Edudemic – If you have an interest in how technology and new theories impact learning in the K-12 space, then this is a must have on your visit list.

Learning Solutions Magazine – The official online publication of the Elearning Guild. A popular, well-respected digital magazine featuring articles by big names and rising professionals.

Rapid Elearning Blog – The official blog of Articulate, this site provides useful tips and tricks as they relate to one of the most popular rapid elearning development tools on the market. Also known to provide freebies to instructional designers.

ELearn Magazine – Another online publication dedicated to elearning, technology, and best practices.

Learning & Collaboration Blog – Our very own blog dedicated to the elearning and instructional design space; recently recognized as a 2013 Must-Read K-12 I.T. Technology site by EdTech Magazine.

EdTech Magazine – Online publication dedicated to providing the best K-12 educational resources as well as coverage of higher-education learning trends and technology.
